Hiring the right photographer is an essential task in planning your wedding. You need to make sure that you choose an experienced photographer. It is not crucial that the photographer is an experienced wedding photographer. An experienced photographer, not specializing in weddings, may be much less expensive than a wedding photographer specialist.
The pictures in your wedding album should contain some of your most important memories. A photographer should have the ability to artfully capture the most special moments of your wedding celebration. It is these unexpected and emotional moments that will help create a wonderful wedding album. Your wedding album is one piece of memorabilia you want to feel proud of when you show it to family and friends. Your photographs should tell the story of your wedding day. Only a good photographer can fill your wedding album with unforgettable pictures. One important aspect of hiring a photographer is personal style and preference. You should view photographs in the photographer’s portfolio to make sure the style is in line with your desires. It is possible that you and the photographer have incompatible tastes and opinion on what your wedding album should look like. Remember, that photography is art and it is highly subjective. For this reason, it is crucial you find a professional who you’ll feel comfortable with, and whose work stands out from any other photographer you’ll be meeting with.
Don’t hire the first photographer you meet. Even if he is highly recommended make sure you evaluate several photographers. Don’t take anyone’s word for it, check the photographer’s portfolio. Compare quality and price of each candidates. Most of the time your reception site will have a few preferred photographer’s to choose from, but it should not stop you from doing your own research.
Get everything in writing, and look for guarantees. Many photographers offer their wedding albums with lifetime guarantee.

Flowers For Your Wedding Day
There is no wedding without flowers. Flowers are the lifeblood of a beautiful wedding day celebration. Flowers are a multi dimensional part of your decorating strategy. They are beautiful, elegant, and provide a wonderful scent. The flowers you choose should compliment everything else in your wedding. Its colors should complement not just your dress. The colors of your flowers should flow with the colors of the decor of your reception site and the ceremony location.
Unless you are a florist, you’ll need to hire one. The florist should be experienced with wedding arrangements. Make sure your florist is able to deliver, install, and remove the arrangements at the end of your event. Even though many reception halls can recommend a florist to you, you should do your homework. Ask for references, and be sure to follow up. It may be tempting to hire a florist without check references, but it could also be irresponsible.
Your wedding flowers should complement the season, your wedding dress, and your color scheme. Your wedding flowers should also complement your attendants' attire, and the style of your wedding. Before you talk to your florist, prepare a list of wedding flowers you'll need. It will help focus your discussions, and help you stay within your budget.
When you discuss the flower arrangements with your florist, she should be able to recommend arrangements based on the size and location of your wedding. Ask to see photos of previous wedding arrangements, which will give you a feel for their creative qualities and what you can expect to see on your wedding day. It is even better if you arrive prepared with some pictures and magazine cut outs with your ideas.
You don’t have to take the florist’s advice on everything. If you feel strongly about a certain flower or color, it should worth fighting for it. It is your wedding, and you are the customer. You have to feel good about your flower arrangements.

Catering For Your Wedding
You should ask about reliability, trustworthiness, quality, and related issues. Never assume that a caterer recommended by someone if surely the best possible solution for your event. One caterer may work great for one event, but be insufficient for others. A caterer may be experienced in smaller events, but not experienced with events with two hundred invited guests.
There are two different styles of catering:
Seated Dinner - Seated dinner setting will normally require more staff than a buffet. Serving the food requires more severs. With a seated dinner, you will need more tables and chairs because most of the guests will eat at the same time. A seated dinner offers less flexibility for your guests, because they usually have a couple of options to choose from. To simplify the process, menu options should be included with the wedding invitations so your guests can choose which selection they prefer. The pre-selection process enables you to work with your caterer on the final count.
Buffet – You may be able to get away with less chairs and tables with a buffet dinner. Buffet gives your guests more flexibility, and they don’t all have to eat at the same time. A buffet dinner also gives your guests more options to customize their food selection. The buffet requires fewer servers and less staff. Guests can pick and choose what they like. In addition to the obvious advantage of a more flexible dinner, your guest can go back for seconds. Because buffet dinners require minimal service staff, you may be able to save more with this option.

How To’s For Choosing The Best Man And Matron Of Honor
The trick with having a wedding party is that eventually you’re going to have to choose someone to be the ‘best’ something. Women have it slightly easier because they can opt to have a Matron of Honor as well as a Maid of Honor, but even so, it’s a difficult decision to make.
Any tips?
Ladies first
Many women feel the pressure of having to choose their ‘bestest’ friend for the honor of being Matron or Maid in their wedding. They feel like they are leaving one of their friends out or hurting their feelings. First of all, realize that the duty of being in the wedding party is enormous. The Matron of Honor has a lot to do before and during the wedding itself, so you will want to choose someone that you think can handle it.
If you’re the bride, you may feel that you have to choose a family member as well, but that’s not necessary. You might include them as a part of the party, but if you have a really close friend that you want to bestow the honor upon, then do so.
Find someone who isn’t overly busy or committed. If they live in the town that you’ll be married in, that’s great too. Even if you’re out of town, you’ll get to be able to visit each other and she can make arrangements while you’re at your home. You also want to find someone who isn’t financially burdened. The thing is that gowns, showers, bachelorette parties, and gifts all cost money, so you don’t want to stretch them.
And then the men
Just like choosing the Matron or Maid of Honor, you don’t want to choose someone that ‘should’ be the Best Man. This should be someone that you can count on to plan the bachelor party and get the other groomsmen to stay on schedule. Of course, your best friend may fit this bill, so the decision might be easy. Again, don’t pick someone who doesn’t have a lot of time or is financially strapped.
Picking someone to be your right hand person is an important decision and an honor for the person that you ask. Although you may think that they are the right person, they may decline the offer and the extra work. In that case, you will need to find someone else to fill the role.

A Little Bit About The Bridal Veil
For hundreds of years until the end of the 12th Century, Anglo-Saxon and Anglo Norman women wore veils. The tradition was part of almost all married women. Only unmarried girls wore no veils. The veils had covered the woman’s hair, their neck and the chins. Veils had served a practical purpose, protecting women’s skin from wind and sun damage. By the 15th century, hoods become popular, and veils became less common.
Historically, brides wore their hair flowing down their back on their wedding day to symbolize their virginity, now the white veil is often said to symbolize purity.
The bridal veil may have some of its origins in the mists of mythology. Ishtar, ancient Goddess of Love, came from the depths to me her betrothed; the vapors of the earth and sea covering her "like a veil". According to tradition, the tradition of the veil changed to include a blusher after Jacob was tricked into marrying his beloved Rachel's sister, Leah, who was distinguished under the full veiling. It seems there is much to be said for scrutinizing the bride before it is too late!
The invention of the wide loom and silk tulle in the 19th century gave women a sheer covering that enhanced their beauty. The wedding veil symbolizes modesty, privacy, youth and virginity. That way of thinking still has a foothold on bridal etiquette, as only a first-time bride wears a veil.
Remember, your bridal veil should complement your wedding dress. The most popular colors are white, diamond white, and ivory. Diamond white is a great choice if your bridal gown has a sheen.
The lifting of the veil at the end of the ceremony symbolizes male dominance. If the bride takes the initiative in lifting it, thereby presenting herself to him, she is showing more independence.
White bridal veils represent the bride’s purity and modesty. In addition, veils are used to add to the final touches of a wedding dress and to frame the bride's face.

Wedding Bouquet - On A Mission Keeping Up With Tradition
Flower bouquets the button hole and center pieces will always be one of the star attractions at weddings. Flower posy/bouquets denote a blossoming maiden which evidently helps reflect her feelings and emotions. The planning of the wedding bouquet takes just as much careful thought behind getting it right for on the day as that of the wedding gown.
Whatever race/religion, bouquets will still always be seen as a tradition to be kept. The more of natures natural beauties lining church pews/aisles will send out a lingering aromatic fragrance and a vast amount of color to brighten up your day.
What to take into consideration when choosing your wedding bouquet:
1. By choosing seasonal flowers you will save time and money, if you insist on blooms out of season then you may find they have to be shipped in from another country.
Time is important when you order and receive the flowers, you will want them fresh therefore a stronger sweet smelling scent.
2. If you have silk flowers in mind then better still this way you are guaranteed your particular favorite flower no matter the time of year so no need to put the wedding on hold.
3. Do not make the mistake of letting the bouquet outshine or cover your figure if you are of petite frame the reason being is, your posture maybe affected thus giving off the wrong image of how your wedding gown should look. If the elegant style of the gown is to stay then make sure to choose pastels instead of strong vibrant colors.
(Depending on the wedding outfit of course)
4. Make sure that your flowers still hold up for late afternoon photo shoots should your wedding service take place in the morning.
A preferred method by brides to keep the flowers fresh while not posing in front of a camera or piling on the pounds at the wedding feast, (who cares now you got your man)only joking is to have a bouquet holder close at hand. Ask the florist for advice on which flowers wilt more quickly than others, by having this information under your garter you will at least know the ones to avoid.
5. On your first visit to the flower shop don't let the florist conjure up what they think you have in mind, they are not mind readers, It is only you at this point knows what you are looking for. Make it easy on both yourself and the florist by taking a photo of the style and design of the bouquet, another good idea is to bring along a sample piece of gown fabric so that the wedding coordinator/florist can select the correct shade of flower to compliment the wedding dress. Additional touches to Bouquets include ribbons lace beads or pearls.
6. Say it with flowers and mean it, why not choose a flower that has special meaning? Take the Stephanotis which stands for happiness in marriage, then we have the Rose denoting love and being true, another fabulous flower is the Tulip with a meaning declaring perfect love, why not have them all if your betrothed means that much to you.
7. Bouquets are becoming more personalized these days so design yours to suit your personality, everyone else is so why not you. Clusters of flowers more widely known as nose gays can vary in sophistication and will fit any personality. Beauty prevails in the flower cascading bouquet which is seen a lot at traditional weddings.
Flowers where the stems are wrapped in ribbons are called Hand-tied bouquets. It is these bouquets that bring a casual aura more often to garden ceremonies. We also have the Contemporary bouquet where flowers are arranged tastefully in a style with no geometric form but still as gorgeous as any other hand held bridal piece, normally used in sophisticated weddings.
8. If your choice is Roses, Lilies, Orchids, Tulips, Stephanotis or Daisies for your bridal bouquet then you have just picked the top flowers that have dominated many a wedding in the past and in the future to come.

Picking Makeup That’s Perfect For Your Wedding Pictures
When you’re smiling in the pictures, you feel like you’re taking a good shot, but can you be so sure? One of the ways that you can help your chances of looking your best is through your makeup decisions. But the wedding day is a completely different ballgame than going out for dinner.
Finding a good makeup artist
When you’re looking for someone to do your makeup for your wedding, you want to listen to your friends and family for referrals. If someone’s name keeps popping up, then you will want to schedule a consultation with them to see what they are like and what they can do for you.
Even if you’re not starting off with a list of people to turn to, you can go through the phone book and start calling to see who does bridal parties. If you have bridesmaids that you want to have makeup for as well, you may want to invite one of them along for help.
Have the makeup artist do your face in the way that you would want for your wedding day. Be specific about what you want and see how they respond. This should be free at first, so be sure to ask a lot of questions, find out the pricing and if she or he will go to the hotel or if everyone needs to go to the salon.
Here’s the key to finding out if the artist is any good for you: have your bridesmaid take a picture of your face in the outdoors and indoors. This will help you to see if you will look good in your pictures, or if you need to find someone else.
If you don’t normally wear makeup
It’s okay if you don’t wear makeup on an everyday basis. Most times, the artists will just make sure that you don’t have any visible blemishes or scars for your pictures as well as enhance your eyes and smile. You should tell the artist if you’re uncomfortable with anything that they’re doing; so that you find someone that will work with you, rather than just do what they think is best.
Even if you end up doing your own makeup, you should be putting your best face forward for your wedding pictures. If there’s a feature on your face that you particularly like, draw attention to that. You can read magazines for advice or have a bridesmaid paint your face and try new things on you.

How To Interview A Wedding Photographer
The photographer is going to be your employee in many ways, so you will need to be absolutely sure that this is a person that you can trust with your wedding pictures. Treat him or her like a job applicant and see how you interact with each other.
Making a list
You can find a list of wedding photographers in your local phone book, but it’s much easier to get onto a wedding website and see who local people recommend. This list is much shorter and can lead you to higher quality people without having to call everyone from A to Z.
Once you have a list of photographers, start to call them to set up appointments. Try not to schedule them too close to each other so that you can spend as much time as you need with each one. If you’re rushed, you may forget to ask particular questions and you may also forget which photographer said what.
Make a list of questions that you want to ask. You can ask about pricing, hourly fees, added costs, location costs, various developing techniques, and more. Try to think of every question that you and your soon-to-be spouse can, even if you think they sound silly. No question is too silly, and if the photographer has been around long enough, then they will have heard them all.
Your interview style
One of the things that works best in talking with photographers is to try to make sure that you are leading the conversation. You want to make sure that you are getting your opinion into the talks, rather than being told what other couples are doing and saying about them and how much their fees are.
If you feel like you’re being sold a product, rather than an opportunity to have some great pictures, then you can cut the appointment off and leave. You have no obligation to choose anyone until you’re completely satisfied with your choice.
Look at the samples carefully and make sure that you’re looking at ones that are recent. Sometimes photographers will try to show you older photos, but if that’s not your style, then it’s really not applicable. Study the quality of the pictures and look for poses that you like.
Your pictures will serve as a reminder of the happiness and joy of your wedding day. You need to find someone who will create masterpieces of your photos. Take your time in finding someone, but do it early—if you live in a smaller town, these professionals can book up early.

How To Plan A Beach Wedding
A beach wedding is a romantic’s dream. The sand, water and sunshine make it such a peaceful location for a wedding. With any outdoor wedding there comes many considerations. A beach wedding also brings extra concerns because of the sand and water. The following gives considerations that any couple should make when planning a beach wedding to make sure that everything goes off smoothly.2. Special Beach Concerns. Beaches are made of sand. People sitting in chairs sink into the sand.
This means a couple should rent a floor for the ceremony. The tide is another consideration. The couple should know when the tide comes in and how far, so they can plan the wedding in an area where they will not be flooded out. Due to the windy, noisy nature of the beach sound is another consideration. The couple should think about having a sound system to broadcast their wedding so guests can hear. If the beach does not have restrooms then the couple will have to rent those as well. Another thing for the couple to think about if using a public beach is that other people may be around. It is important to not stage the wedding in a popular spot. The rules of the beach must also be followed, so the couple should check those out ahead of time.
These two points mention the major things couples often overlook when planning a beach wedding. Of course the size of the guest list may affect some of these considerations. Whether or not the reception will also be at the beach may bring on more things to think about as well. Beach weddings are romantic and they often go smoothly. When couples really plan out the event a beach wedding can make this magical day even better.

1. Weather. This is a typical concern for any outdoor wedding. Beaches are windy, open spots, so there are more weather concerns than if the wedding were to be held in a backyard. Winds can get strong and therefore anything that could blow away or tangle up in the wind should be avoided or secured. The sun is also strong at the beach. Guests comfort should be considered. Guests should be made aware so they can bring sunscreen and dress appropriately. Shade should also be provided. Rain is always a possibility, so the couple should rent a tent just in case.

Unique Wedding Gift Ideas - That Makes Weddings All Worthwhile
Here we go again where tradition kicks in when buying gifts well it's time for a change. Common presents received at weddings are toasters, crockery etc and you can be sure of two of the same gadget given at most weddings.
Giving of gifts is a tradition that will go on for ever and heaven forbid should that stop then there would be no reason why we would want guests at the ceremony (Joke)
Unique wedding gift donations will always hold fond memories for the married couple. Presents are a symbol of remembrance so make sure with what contribution you give that they get to remember you in a way that you want them to.
Several unique gift ideas listed below that will certainly make you unforgettable.
Jewelry
Women absolutely love and adore ornate trinkets so no exception for the bride. To be on the receiving end of a unique wedding gift in the form of a piece of warm gold/cool silver is enough to make any wedding day special. Jewelry like pendants, brooch pins, earrings, hairpins, chains, necklaces make elegant gifts. His and her matching watches make fabulous gifts also. Depending on your budget and what the happy couple mean to you then diamond studded it is.
Bags
Another sure way of pleasing the bride is with a soft leather/suede handbag and a briefcase for the groom. Little tokens placed inside will add more excitement when opened. Cosmetic pouch for the bride and maybe a gold plated pen set for the groom.
Small gifts make great presents and mean as much like perfumes/scents and aftershave for the male taking the plunge. Just make sure not to offend by giving deodorant, we don't want to send out the wrong signals.
Gift ideas for the groom
Fantastic ideas worth considering for the groom is a pocket watch personalized and engraved, tiepins or precious stone studded cuff links. If you happen to know the groom and his likes and dislikes then even better. If music is his thing then give guitar/drums whatever. WARNING, do not give before the wedding we need him to turn up on the day and heaven forbid if his love of golf is stronger then this gift is to be given after the marriage has been consummated.
Artwork
Ideal wedding gifts are pieces of art like paintings/sculptures. This again will need some intimate knowledge on the couple and what their preferences are in this department
Personalized items
Personal items given as gifts are sure to go down well like photo albums, pillows, guilt edged photo frames. Companies that specialize in personalizing different things are in abundance.
Why not consider at a later date sending them on their first holiday or weekend break. Wedding gifts symbolize remembrance of the donor. If you really want to leave your mark that is guaranteed an unforgettable gift then it is gold locket with a picture of you inside. (It's worth a try)

Essential Wedding Accessories - Inject Beauty Into The Eyes Of The Beholder
Wedding accessories are so important when it comes down to adding the finishing touches to the bridal attire. If you think the bridal look is complete without wedding accessories then I urge you to think again. Wedding gowns need garnishing with elegance and this is achieved by choosing the right essential wedding accessories.
Wedding veils
Watch how the veil sets the scene and speaks volumes as it is nurtured onto the head expelling radiance and beauty. An amazing transformation transpires for the bride once the veil is positioned
Design/style of your chosen gown will help you decide on what veil is best suitable. Traditional veils normally measure approx three and half yards long, in saying that remember this is your day and if you want your veil trailing along the floor then so be it.
Shoes & stockings
Crucial elements are shoes/stockings for the overall look on your wedding day. Before deciding on a pretty shoe because it looks good be sure to try it for comfort as you will be wearing them for the best part of the day. Shoes made of velvet, satin or silk are materials which once again are a common choice made by brides.
Jewelry
Aside from the wedding band/ring consider Jewelry pieces like Grace Kelly pearl peepers with a matching string of pearls to compliment the gown, Jewelry selections as such just oozes and injects elegance, in fact adding glamour in a tasteful feminine way.
Headpieces
Diamante headbands and Juliet caps are generally used to hold the wedding veil in place. All brides' requirements have been catered for when looking for essential accessories in bridal shops from plain to bling bling. Crystals/pearls hold strong in a brides mind therefore dominating her way of thinking on designs and styles for her wedding gown and accessories.
Star attraction headpieces has to be the tiara all of a shimmer and glimmer.
Gloves
Another accessory that must not to be ignored especially if the wedding gown is off the shoulder/sleeveless, is gloves. Word has it the shorter the sleeve the longer the glove.
Gloves simply conjure up an air of sophistication to any bridal outfit.
Wedding accessories are just as important as your gown so the right choice has to be made to look a million dollars
An honest friend is the best companion to have with you when out shopping for what to wear on your wedding day; it can also help ease pressure.
Just a little friendly warning, make sure the friend you have chosen to help in your bid to look beautiful is not one of your boyfriends old flames.

How To Shop For Your Most Perfect Mother Of The Bride Dress
Your daughter’s wedding is announced. She has butterflies in her stomach and one thousand and one things to do. Her “butterflies” becomes yours and your thoughts are racing just like hers. You, as her mother, will help her plan her dream wedding, just like your mother planned yours. At the back of your mind……”What am I going to wear? Will I look just as beautiful as my daughter on her wedding day? So many people are going to be looking at me as well….”
Fret no more. Here are the RULES but like all rules, they may be broken or should I say improvised and revised to suit you. I say….whatever makes you and/or your daughter happy!
1. Confer with your daughter. She will come up with a color scheme for her wedding.
2. Ask her whether she wants the color of your dress to complement her wedding color/colors or almost match it. Examples of complementary colors to a red color theme is burgundy, wine, claret red, dark pink, and purple. As for a “match”, it would certainly be difficult to have an exact match of the colors, as your dress will be of a different manufacturer, style, fabric, and dye. So, do not stress over this.
3. You, as the mother of the bride, will decide on a color or colors, after consulting your daughter. Suggest to her to be flexible on the choice of colors—perhaps two or three choices would be great. Mother of the bride dresses are not made like bridesmaid dresses, the latter being preordered and tailored months ahead of time for the occasion. Shopping for a mother of the bride dress can be a headache and nightmare rolled into one, especially for the plus size woman or if you live in a rural city.
4. Do not forget to involve the mother of the groom. After you have an idea of what color you would or should be wearing, inform her. She will definitely appreciate that as she will be in a panic mode as well, going through the same motions as you will soon be, looking for that perfect “mother’s” dress.
5. Shop as soon as you can. Finding YOUR dress is important too. Understand that you are shopping for a specific style that you like and look great in, a specific color, and then a specific size. Then, you will need to allow sufficient time for professional tailoring of the dress, to get it to fit just right! Also, what about the accessories like shoes and jewelry?
6. Shop bridal or department stores first. You can get a first hand look at the styles out there and the type and quality of fabrics. Do not ignore online formal wear stores. Visiting an online store is easy and stress free as they are sources of good ideas of what you would like to wear on that special day.
7. Take care of yourself in these nerve-wrecking times of preparation. Remember, you need to look good as well, although it is your daughter’s wedding.
8. Now, sit back and relax. You have found your most perfect mother of the bride dress and have a few more weeks to spare. Give yourself a big pat on the back!

The Right Wedding Reception Glasses And Dinnerware Make A Big Difference
Of all the things to worry about, why should you worry about the glasses and the dinnerware? Well, maybe it’s not that you should worry so much as you should make sure that you have everything that anyone could need.
Depends on the menu
If you’re having something that requires special utensils, you’ll have to factor that into your dinnerware plans. This sounds silly, but you truly have to understand that every detail will help your guests and you feel comfortable. You’ll be eating too, so that butter knife won’t go through your steak any easier than it will through your guest’s.
Most catering services will incorporate the correct utensils, but you may want to double check to be sure. This is especially true when you’re having a dish that is a little tricky to eat—meats, shelled seafood, etc. You want to make sure that your guests are completely comfortable and able to eat what they are served.
The same goes for drinks. You will want to have a water glass or goblet plus a champagne glass next to each place setting. If you are having a bar, then the additional glasses will be given by them. If there is wine and beer, then they can be served in the appropriate glassware.
If you’re doing it on your own
There’s nothing more frustrating than realizing that you haven’t planned for enough people. And when it comes to dinner ware and glassware, you need to rent more than you think that you do. You’ve certainly been at a party and set your glass down, lost it, and then grabbed a new one to replace it. This is the same situation, only there are a lot more people.
When you’re planning your own wedding and renting the dishes and flat ware, you want to plan for at least fifty more people than are coming. This gives you enough leeway should glasses get misplaced or lost.
Flat ware should also be ordered in bulk as it can easily drop on to the floor or be miscounted. When the supplies arrive, you want to count and recount everything to make sure that you have enough.
And in a pinch, you should have plastic glasses and cups ready, as well as flat ware. It’s not the prettiest sight, but when you have nothing else, it will have to do.

Wedding Catering: Buffet Or Service
Another conundrum for soon-to-be married couples is the dilemma of having servers versus having a buffet for the reception. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, so let’s look at both sides before you make your decision.
At the buffet table
The first and most obvious upshot of having a buffet style dinner at the wedding is the opportunity for all of the guests to choose what they want to eat. This way everyone is happy and they can have as much or as little as they want. There can be multiple things for various dietary restrictions as well as a multitude of side dishes for the vegetarian that hates getting pasta at every wedding.
But the downside of the buffet table is that things that are popular will run out. If you do not plan ahead for shortages, then you may have guests that didn’t get what they really wanted to eat. In terms of movement, the buffet table can be tricky. The bride may have troubles moving up there and might be afraid to spill anything on her dress, as other may be as well. Trying to find ways to serve items without having a large opportunity for spillage will help to avoid any dry cleaning bills.
The service is excellent
Having servers for the reception is a classy and easy way to keep everyone happy during the reception. Not only will no one have to move until the dance, but the servers can also attend to any problems without the couple even knowing about them. Drinks can also be served, which is wonderful for everyone—no more needing to get up and down during dinner.
On the other hand, this excellent service does come with a price tag. It will be costlier to have staff waiting on the guests, especially with more guests. You will also take the chance of the staff being nice to the head table and not to the rest of the guests. The best advice is to interview each staff member as well before the reception.
Both buffets and service are great options for reception dinners. If you’re looking for something a little more casual, then the buffet will be great, but for the more formal occasion, service is best. You may want to stop and consider your guests at this point. If they’re older and don’t move around well, service is a great way to keep them comfortable.

Do Something Smart And Unique: Earth-friendly Wedding Decorations
It might seem wasteful to you to decorate and use all of these cut flowers in order to make a big room beautiful for one night. Are there any environmentally friendly options?
Change the setting
The easiest way to keep from using cut flowers and dried petals is to have your reception and ceremony outside. This sounds like trouble in the making, but it’s a lot easier than it sounds. If you have a large space in someone’s yard or in a park(with everyone’s permission), you can set up a large tent for the reception hall and even the ceremony if you’d like.
Since guests will be under a roof, there is little need for worrying about the weather and they can still see the beauty of the outside as they eat. Find a beautiful setting and light some lanterns around the tent, it creates a soft glow well into the evening.
New ingredients
Of course, if you’re looking for the most earth friendly eating options, you will want to select the buffet option with a limited portion of food. Any additional food can be donated to the local shelter if you’d like.
You will not be using any plastic forks or cups, so you will need a lot of glasses and silverware to make sure that you don’t run out. Napkins can be cloth and washed instead of thrown out.
As decorations, you can spread lavender along the tops of the tables and then include small tea lights as well as larger candles as needed. Find candles that burn clean (as soy ones do), and these are quite friendly to use.
If you’re looking for a centerpiece, you can choose to have tall silver or gold vases in the middle (metal) and fill them with ice and a bottle of champagne for the table. This looks great, plus it serves a function. You can then give away the vases for planters at the end of the night.
Using kegs instead of individual beer cans is a great way to cut back on waste—even if it can be recycled. Recycling tends to be more and more difficult to do as the night goes on.
Let the conversation and the happiness decorate the night, not things that you will only throw away the next day. Being earth friendly isn’t difficult when you think of other ways that you can use things after the wedding is over.

Wedding Decorations
Part of planning for a wedding is selecting appropriate decorations. Here are some ideas that may help in your wedding preparations.
Flowers are Traditional
Flowers have become an essential part of almost every wedding. From the bride's bouquet to the corsages worn by her attendants and the boutonnieres on the groom and his friends, flowers enhance the outfits of all the principal players.
Flowers are also an important aspect of the wedding decorations in the church or hall where the wedding is held. They can be arranged in vases at the altar and in the lobby or attached to the ends of the rows of seats. And no wedding reception would look right without a vase of flowers on every table.
In selecting flowers for the big event, think of the colors of the bridesmaids' dresses and what types of flowers will be in season on the wedding date. Selecting seasonal flowers may help reduce the cost. Shop around to find a florist who understands both your taste and your budget.
Creative people can buy flowers and arrange them on their own. Remember that this will take some time and cannot be done too early because flowers are perishable. It may be necessary to find refrigerator space to keep them cold so they will last longer. Transporting flower arrangements without disturbing them can be difficult, so it may be best to arrange the flowers at the place where the wedding is being held.
Candles Give a Warm Glow
Candles make a wonderful choice for wedding decorations. The color chosen can coordinate or contrast with the flowers. Pillars, tapers or even floating candles should be considered. Select candleholders that complement the candles and flowers. There are many choices for candles in a vast array of colors and scents online amd in local stores.
Safety is always a concern with candles. Be sure they are placed where they will not set drapery or other flammable items on fire. Wait to light them until just before guests will enter the area where they are located. Once guests have left an area, be sure to snuff out all the candles remaining there.
Table Settings Make an Impact
The table settings at the wedding reception will be photographed and long remembered. Choose attractive linens, china, cutlery and glassware that go well with the wedding's style and colors. Since these items usually belong to the hotel or hall where the reception is held, people may not think of them as wedding decorations. Even though the bride and groom will not own them after the event, choosing them carefully is just as important as picking out the other visual elements that go into the wedding plan.
Some smaller hotels may have a limited selection of tableware. If it is a small wedding and having an elegant table is important to the happy couple, they may wish to borrow appropriate china and glassware from their parents or rent it from a rental company for the day.
Casual wedding, casual style
For those holding a more casual style of wedding, the decorations may be less elaborate. An outdoor wedding may call for tiki torches and a flowering trellis. Wedding decorations for a country-western wedding might include saddles, boots, cactus and cowboy hats. Other possible wedding themes are limited only by the imaginations of the happy couple. Whatever they select, there are wedding decorations to go along with their plans.
Since the bride and groom will be leaving on their honeymoon during the reception, it may be desirable to designate a friend or relative to collect any wedding decorations that could have sentimental value or future use. Candles will probably not be consumed during the wedding. Flowers will last for at least a few more days and the vases can be recycled for a future event. Perhaps a welcome home bouquet and candle decoration made of the wedding leftovers could be placed in the new couple's home to greet them when they return from their honeymoon.

Giving A Best Man Speech
During the wedding reception, the best man often serves as the master of ceremonies. He typically starts the toasts by raising his glass in a salute to the couple. At some weddings, his best man speech may be the only toast.
As honorary MC, the best man is supposed to give a pleasant and sincere message. That means creating a tribute to the couple that includes both wit and sentiment. Here are a few tips on how to give a best man speech.
Speaking tips
Stand up before you begin speaking. Planning what you want to say in advance. Unless you give speeches all the time, don't do it off the top of your head. Rehearse your best man speech a few times before the wedding. If you are concerned you might forget what you wanted to say, write at least a few key phrases from your best man speech on a small note card. Put it in your pocket and refer to it as needed.
While you and the groom may have a history together that includes some heavy duty partying, this is not the time to talk about it. A personal story about a shared experience with the couple, perhaps including something humorous, is appropriate. If you can't come up with an anecdote, mention a favorite quote or song lyric that will convey something meaningful about the couple.
Remember that the wedding isn't about you - it's about the couple. You will only lose the guests' attention if you talk on and on. This is a time when brevity is best, so limit your best man speech to a maximum of three minutes.
Sample best man jokes and one liners
Again, it's important to keep any jokes you tell during your best man speech within the bounds of good taste. Here's a basic standard to follow. If you would not be comfortable telling the joke to your grandmother, leave it out. The groom is your friend and you want that friendship to continue after the wedding. Saying anything rude or crude might make that impossible.
The trouble with being the best man at a wedding is that you never get to prove it.
Marriage is based on the theory that when a man discovers a particular brand of beer exactly to his taste, he should at once throw in his job and go to work in the brewery. - George Nathan
I can honestly say that in all the years I've known Joe, no one has ever questioned his intelligence. In fact, I've never heard anyone even mention it.
Let me not to the marriage of true minds admit impediments. - William Shakespeare
You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find a prince.
A good marriage is like a casserole. Only those responsible for it really know what's in it.
Be tolerant of the human race. Your whole family belongs to it, as does some of your spouse's family.
It's not as great a day for the bride as she thinks. She's not marrying the best man.
We always believe our first love is our last and our last love our first.
Here's to Benjamin, a man who keeps his head though he loses his heart.
What can you say about a man who came from nowhere and is now rising to the top of his profession based solely on intelligence, hard work and willpower? A man who is distinguishing himself among his colleagues who say nothing but good about him? Well, that's enough about me. Today I'm here to talk about Howard.
We come to love not by finding a perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly.
Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind. - William Shakespeare
Marriage is popular because it combines the maximum of temptation with the maximum of opportunity. - George Bernard Shaw
Marriage resembles a pair of shears, so joined that they cannot be separated, often moving in opposite directions, yet always punishing anyone who comes between them. - Sydney Smith
Keep your eyes wide open before marriage and half shut afterwards. - Benjamin Franklin
Who, being loved, is poor? - Oscar Wilde

Free Best Man Speeches
Being selected as best man is an honor that comes with a heavy responsibility - giving a speech. If you're having trouble coming up with your own words, try adapting one of these free best man speeches to the situation of your friends who are marrying.
In picking from the selection of free best man speeches, keep in mind the happy couple, their friends and their families. Your goal is helping them start their new life on the right foot without you being the center of attention. Giving a speech that people remember for years after the wedding might not be a good thing.
- Thanks to all of you for coming today and sharing this special occasion with Jane and Tom. Tom and I have been friends for years and I am so happy to see him marry such a wonderful woman. Ever since Tom met Jane, I've never seen one without the other. Their love for each other has only grown stronger even during tough times. Thank you, Tom, for being such a good friend. I wish you and Jane the best of everything as you share long and happy lives. Cheers!
- Now it is my great honor and privilege to make the first toast to Arnold and Vanessa as husband and wife. While some people know that Arnold and I went to high school and college together, few are aware that we first met while playing Little League baseball in grade school. Arnold played for the Avondale Americans and I played for their arch rival, the Boonetown Buddies. I was pitching during the final game of the season when Arnold hit a grand slam home run. He ran the bases like a demon and scored the winning run, crushing my ego for years.
While that embarassment was temporary, the positive impression Arnold made on me later as a classmate, teammate, roommate and friend will last forever. Arnold has always been there for me. He is honest, caring, thoughtful and an all round great guy. Heck, if I was a woman, we'd be the ones getting married today!
But seriously, I think he's made a much better choice in Vanessa. Let us toast them and wish them a long life together filled with love and laughter. May their joys be many and their sadnesses few. Congratulations!
- After 25 years of sibling rivalry, you can see that my brother has finally figured out who the best man really is. I wish James and Jennifer all the best now and forever. As you go through life together, always love each other, respect each other and be there for each other. Remember to say "I'm sorry" when you mess up and never go to bed angry. Separately, you're both wonderful people, but together you take life to a new level. I love you both. Congratulations!
Short and sweet speeches
Even with the help of these free best man speeches, you may be nervous about speaking in front of a crowd. Maybe picking one of these short and sweet free best man speeches will help you conquer your stage fright because you'll be done almost as soon as you start.
- Today we celebrate all the good things you have found in each other, a best friend, a lover, a teacher, a playmate and a true partner in life. Cheers!
- If things get tough, remember how happy you were today and see each other always in this warm glow of joy. Best wishes to Tony and Amanda!
- If you can find the humor in whatever happens to you, your lives will be full of joy. Congratulations!
- As you go through life, remember that being together makes it all worthwhile. I wish you the best.
- To love, laughter and a happy ever after!
- May your kitchen always be filled with your favorite food and beverages and your bedroom with the warmth of your embraces.
- May your love and friendship grow every day you are together.
- May your lives overflow with love, health and wealth and may you have the time and wisdom to enjoy them all.

Bridal Shower Party Advice
The bridal shower is the prewedding party organized by the bridesmaids or close female friends. Its purpose is to shower the bride with good wishes. Obviously, the bride is the center of attention at the bridal shower. Although it should not matter who is hosting organizing the event, traditionally, family was discouraged from hosting bridal showers, because it may look like they are digging for gifts.
There is no rule on who is to host the shower. The bridesmaids, friends, or family usually hosts it. The place of the party is usually someone’s house, but bridal showers can be held at restaurants. One of the most important aspect of planning a successful bridal shower is to only invite guest who will be invited to the wedding too. Anyone invited to the shower would have every right to be expecting an invitation to the wedding. To avoid embarrassing mistakes, always consult the bride and key decision makers about the guest list.
The bridal shower, just like your wedding, should be on a day that is easy to attend. Therefore, Saturday is probably the best day to have the party. It enables your guests to attend. The bridal shower should be close to the wedding day but not less than a couple of weeks before.
Bridal shower favors are an important part of the event. Some of the most popular bridal shower favors are personalized chocolates, or personalized bath gels. If you have a beach theme bridal shower, your favors can compliment it. For example, dolphin wine stoppers, or seashell candles are very popular beach bridal shower favor ideas.
Written invitations are not mandatory. Most people have an e-mail address, so einvitations may be the most cost effective option.
If the party is at someone’s home, usually finger food is served. Pizza is another popular choice of food. Bridal showers are informal event, and you don’t need to make a big fuss about the food.

Wedding Practices American Style
Residing in the United States makes one feel liberated - in other words free to do whatever you want, free to live your life, freedom of love, and free to make your own choices allowing you to break all traditions.
There are a great many practices still adhered too; some people find tradition hard to cast aside. Here are some distinct western touches:
The yanks have a fantastic unique way in personalizing their weddings which means giving priority over engagements which are not traditionally celebrated in a way that it is in some countries.
Old fashioned original down on bended knee marriage proposals, the better they say.
Wedding preparations start with the engaged couple visiting parents/family informing them of their engagement.
Engaged couples intend to invite more friends along to their engagement party than that of the wedding, because engagement parties cost a lot less than any planned wedding reception. Light snacks on the menu will be just that, light e.g. cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. To make the wedding day cost effective couples will ask more colleagues and friends to the engagement party therefore less to cater for if on a tight budget on the day they tie the knot.
Bridal shower preparations are given by the maid of honour and bridesmaids. A bachelor party is certainly on the cards for the groom to be. One tradition I think that will never be cast aside. Drinking should be consumed in moderation; you need to be steady on your feet when taking those vows.
A good idea is to make sure all wedding invitations include response cards this way guests will let you know if they can attend. Wedding invitations are usually sent within 4/6 weeks before the occasion.
Rehearsal dinners are sometimes carried out with wedding party guests who come from far away places to attend the wedding practice. Word has it that the groom's parents foot the dinner bill cost.
The bridal luncheon is hosted for the bride's attendants on the wedding day itself. However, time may not allow this to be part of the routine on the wedding day. This also apply's to the groom and groomsmen.
Religious ceremonies are very popular with the Americans even if they hold know religious beliefs. How ever problems can arise when a couple gets married from different faiths or religions.
The feeling where bad luck prevails if the groom should see the bride the day before is still upheld in many parts of the world, the yanks are adamant in keeping to the rules and comply with this voodoo curse as some would see it, so the groom bides his time and takes notice when the bride walks down the aisle.
Still in practice the groom and groomsmen make their entrance into the chapel through a side door. Brides are still given away by dad sometimes by two males if they have a stepfather.
Formal receptions usually have a bridal table where the couples and their chosen attendants sit. As guests arrive for the reception food and drinks are served on entry.
Gift lists are on show for the guest thus making it easy for them to choose the right present for the happy couple. A fabulous idea to say you thank you for all gifts received is to send personalized notes to all the guests who attended.
The choice is yours whether you stick with tradition or not but one thing that does not change in the eyes of an American is that most take their vows very seriously "For better or worse, 'til death do us part." is still common in American wedding practices.

Must Have Ideas For Decorating For Wedding Your Guests
Although the favors and the speeches are ways to thank your guests for coming, you can do more. Many couples have found ways to appreciate their guests in a more personal way, and maybe so can you.
A picture is worth…
An interesting way to decorate the guests’ tables is to place a piece of clear plastic on top of the table cloth, but before doing that, you’re going to spend a little time with your photo album. You can find photos of particular guests and place them on the table. Not only does this show some of their memories, but it also shows that you were thinking of them personally as you decorated the table. The plastic will protect the pictures from being harmed. Of course, you can also make digital copies of the pictures and use those as decorations too. If the guest wants to bring them home, then you can help them do so.
Next slide
Another way that couples are decorating their reception with love and memories is to play a video or a slide show of themselves with their relatives and loved ones. When set to music, this can be a stirring reminder of those that have been lost and those that may have been forgotten.
You can show this on a wall that everyone can see as they’re waiting for dinner, or even as dinner is served. And it doesn’t have to be perfect or even have an explanation as to who is who. It can just show the pictures of the new couple as they grew up, as they first met, and when they were engaged. Personalize your wedding and your guests will fall under the spell.
Take it with you
Another fun way to decorate with your guests in mind is to let people take home the decorations when they leave. This can be the candles, the flowers, wine glasses, anything that you want to give as a gift. Leave a gift bag on the back of their chair along with instructions as to what to do. This is fun for everyone and if they don’t want to bring anything home, they don’t have to. It also saves a little cleaning up!
The wedding day is your day, but the reception is really for the people that have come to celebrate you, so why not celebrate them a little too?

A Guide To Bridesmaids Dresses
Choosing bridesmaids dresses is no easy task, but it’s one of the most exciting and often the most emotional parts of the wedding planning process.
Inviting the special women in your life to be your bridesmaids; your sisters, your lifelong friends, your cousins and special family friends; is a way to seal important friendships during this very special time in your life. Choosing the bridesmaids dress, whether you do it yourself or together with your bridesmaids, is an integral part of the tradition.
Tips on Choosing the Right Dresses for your Bridesmaids
Naturally, it’s the bride who will be the focus of attention on her wedding day, but it’s important for the bridesmaids to look gorgeous too. Choose something simple and not overdecorated or detailed, but which will make your bridesmaids look elegant, sophisticated and feminine.
It’s important to choose a dress style which will flatter everyone’s figure. This is never an easy task, but empire waists and A-line or princess skirts will tend to suit most shapes and sizes.
If your bridesmaids have very different figure types and heights, and you think they might feel uncomfortable in matching dresses, a nice alternative is to choose the fabrics and colors, and allow each individual bridesmaid to choose her own dress style.
Always keep a budget in mind for your bridesmaids gowns. It’s very unfair to expect your bridesmaids to buy overly expensive dresses, and it may damage your relationship with some of the most important women in your life. Around $100-250 each dress is generally considered a reasonable cost. If you have your heart set on a more expensive gown, you might consider making up the difference yourself.
Classic Looks for Bridesmaids
Any kind of formal gown, semi-formal or evening dress can be chosen as a bridesmaids gown, so you have literally thousands of options. Satin, organza, chiffon, georgette, tulle, lace, brocades, and crepe are all classic fabrics for bridesmaid dresses. Whether you choose real silks and imported laces, or more economical alternatives will depend on your budget.
It’s traditional to choose a one-piece dress or gown, but separates are definitely an option. Mixing and matching separate blouses and skirts makes it easier to find a style which suits each individual bridesmaid.
You should think about the time of year you plan to hold the wedding, and how this will effect your gown choices. Choose lighter fabrics for summer, and a sleeveless or even a strapless dress style. If your wedding is planned for a cooler time in the year, long skirts and sleeves are best, or include a shawl or wrap as part of the outfit.
It’s a nice idea to choose your colors according to the time of year also. Fresh, soft colors are lovely for spring and summer; golds, copper tones and rusty reds for fall, and deep marine blues, teal green, deep burgundies and plums, or platinum shades for winter.
Choose colors which will match the flowers which are in bloom at the time of year, so your gowns will tone in nicely with the bouquets. Discussing your color ideas with your favorite florist will make the job of choosing colors much easier.
For a very sophisticated, formal look, black or black and white never goes out of style.. Alternating black and white solid panels has a very dramatic effect.
For a more romantic look, use white or a solid color overlaid with black lace, either as a feature of the dress itself, or as a shawl or wrap.
Soft, pretty pastel shades like lilac, powder pink, cream, platinum and eggshell blue are always popular colors for bridesmaid dresses, because they always look good together with the white or ivory shade of the bridal gown. Adding dramatic color accents in the bouquets creates a very attractive look for the wedding party as a whole.
Another idea which works very well for bridesmaids gowns is to use a silk or satin fabric with a subtle crossweave in a contrasting color, and match the bouquets to the crossweave color. The bouquets will bring out and enhance the color highlights in the dress fabric, which has a very pretty effect.
Accessories for Bridesmaids
The simplest look will tend to work best, so accessories should best be kept to a minimum. Often a simple pair of earrings, a brooch or necklace is all the jewelry you’ll need. It’s traditional for the bride to give the bridesmaids their jewelry as a gift, which is a lovely idea.
For a very formal look, shawls, gloves and even small tiaras are always appropriate as bridesmaids’ accessories.
Keep comfort as well as style in mind when you choose shoes for your bridesmaids. Very high heels may be uncomfortable to stand in for any period of time. Also consider the fact that the bridesmaids will most likely be wearing the shoes for the wedding ceremony and the reception, so choose shoes which will be comfortable to wear all day, then dance away the night.

Tips For Making Your Wedding Bouquets Last
Because a lot of the wedding preparations start in the morning and go well into the afternoon, the flowers will need to be delivered well before the ceremony. If it’s a warm day, you might find you and your bridesmaids with wilted, dropping flowers. But don’t worry; there are ways to avoid this as well.
Keeping it cool
Most of the bouquets and other floral arrangements will come in either vases or small plastic bags of water. These are designed to keep them moist and pert until the start of the wedding. And while keeping them in these packages will help the most for keeping your flowers from wilting, there are other ways to spruce them up.
If you should get flowers that aren’t as perky, then you can run the ends of the bouquets under cold water as you cut the ends at an angle. This will help to create new channels for the water to flow through. Place the bouquets back into their original water and they should become straighter and livelier within an hour or so.
What you may read in some books is that you can use ice cubes in the water to help you make the flowers look better, but this only freezes the routes of water to the flower, and can cause even more harm to a sagging bouquet.
If you decide to take outdoor pictures, they you can take the bouquets out of the water, dry them off with a paper towel and stand and pose. Once you are back inside, you will want to put the flowers back into the water once more, to make sure that they get the most amount of water they can before the ceremony.
After the fact
If you’re looking to preserve your bouquet, here are a few tips. Although many florists can help you with preserving the bride’s bouquet, you can also do it yourself. One route is to hang the bouquet upside down as soon as you can after the wedding. This helps the flowers to keep their original shape as they air dry. The air drying process will take a while, so don’t worry if you’re still waiting on them to dry a month later.
Another way to preserve bouquets is to spray them with hair spray immediately following the wedding and hang them upside down. This creates a sort of layer of protection around the petals and can shield the flowers from losing their original shape.
